Sunday Fun Run!

You would think that all I would be thinking about is my race on Saturday. Surprisingly I am not. Well, not 100% of the time. Occasionally I will think about it. Right now Lil man is fighting a fever and I am really hoping NOT to get SICK with TRT 50k on Saturday.

"Please ohhh please do not come my way sickness that is floating around the house."

But I guess it is a ritual as he has been sick the last 2 times I have raced.

The first was CIM and the second being AR50. So it was no surprise when I got home today from my 6 mile run with trailmomma that Lil man was sick. Not much I can do about it.

Yup, today I went out with trailmomma and we met up at Rio again. It is a very convenient spot for both of us. Today I surprised her by bringing out my dog Toby.

It was early enough in the day before the heat hit, and he really would not let me leave again with out him. So he came along to enjoy the morning with some great company.

Actual Toby came along as a wild animal deterrent. Because the last time we ran out there we ran into a ton of bunnies, wild turkeys and pigeons.

Killer bunnies out to get me!

Turkeys after Trailmomma

If pigeons could read, this is what they are reading!

But today all we saw were a few turkeys and a random bunny here and there. I was feeling really good today, legs felt strong and my focus was there. Toby did a great job and kept a nice steady pace and only scared one runner. It was actually really funny to watch. We were passing 2 runners on the right, one of the runners made eye contact with Toby and the next thing I knew he bounced up in the air and was eye level with her. It scared her and Toby continued on his way without missing a stride. Both trailmomma and I had a good laugh. I enjoyed this run.
All good things to be thinking and feeling especially with my race coming up. This afternoon was very relaxing, which was nice for a change.

Toby this afternoon! Tired

Changing Things UP

This week I have been trying some new things in preparation for the Tahoe Rim Trail 50k next Saturday. It is also my taper week. One of things I have been being doing differently is drinking more water. I drink water but I am always on the move at my job so I in fact was not drinking enough.
  • I drink 24 oz. in the morning before I leave for work, fill it up drink it at work. I know still not enough but I never seem to be able to get it in. Once I get home, I drink another bottle, and if I run, I bring some water for the run and also a bottle for after the run and once I get home I drink a bottle before going to bed and I have repeated this process all week. It seems to be helping, but I am still waking up thirsty so I some how need to get more water in. Any suggestions? I even flavored the water so I could drink more.
  • I stopped drinking soda this week, only my one cup of coffee in the morning and I most of the time don't even finish it. No caffeine.
  • I am eating better and I make time at work to eat my lunch even if I have to eat it in 5-10 minutes. The one thing I wish I did this week was eat dinner. My schedule has changed at work and I go in at 5 a.m. and pretty soon it will be 4 a.m.
  • S-cap before runs
Those are some of the few changes I have made and I have been feeling better, but I do miss that coke. But it will taste that much better during my race on Saturday.

Earlier in the week I ran 6 miles on Monday with Toby who was a great companion. Overall my body felt 100 times better than it did on Sunday. I took a rest day on Tuesday, and on Wednesday I really wasn't feeling a run but decided to head out and meet the Fleet Feet Crew. Off we went for a nice 6 mile run. Only I wasn't feeling it one bit. My legs were feeling really sluggish and tight. My legs were also swollen. Around 1.5 miles I decided to turn around. But before I did another runner offered me a s-cap which I took and Captain Kirk suggested wearing compression socks once I got home from work. Wonder woman was kind enough to turn around with me. We both ran back in and I was OK with a 3 mile run, I mean it was my taper week.
Thursday I changed things up, I took Captain Kirk's suggestion and put on my compression socks as soon as I got home from work and picking up my nephew at pre-school. It was special meme day! He was so excited when he saw me, he came running to me before they could verify who I was. We drove home and relaxed the rest of the afternoon. I had plans to meet trailmomma at Rio and do a 10 mile run. I arrived and I was feeling better than Wednesday. My legs weren't swollen, I felt hydrated and I also took a s-cap before starting the run. I think that s-cap really helped me because my legs during the run never felt sluggish and the last mile back in my leg turn over was steady and quick.
Thursday's run was interesting, there were at least 100 fuzzy cute little bunnies on the bike path. We ran into a trio of pigeons, a gackel of turkeys and ummm more turkeys everywhere. I think that was it. But there was a ton of wild life out that day. All this wild life had my nerves shoot because I was a bit skittish and jumping more than trailmomma was. But it was a solid run on both of our parts. Trailmomma even left a great note on my car. I found it as I was leaving work and it really made my day! Thanks trailmomma.
Friday was a rest day, I crashed hard as soon as I got home from work. It was a long work week, but the funny thing was it was a short work week because Monday was a Holiday.

I believe the changes I made this week are helping me get ready for next weeks race.
Today I did my "long" run of the week 12 miles. I took in a s-cap before the run, had plenty of water during the run and also after. I am re-hydrating this afternoon. On the run though I stopped dead in my tracks. I thought I was hearing kids playing and screaming on the left side of trail, but than I heard the same noises on the right side. Only it wasn't kids playing. I remembered hearing these yelps when I was in Tahoe last summer. It was a herd of coyotes on the right and left. I am pretty sure of it. After the yelps left the area I finished my run. It was good to be out there today, I was glad I was on my own so I could get focus and judge how my body was doing.
One week till the race, all I have to do this week is finalize pre-race, during the race, and post race plans. I plan on really enjoying this run and using it to de-stress before the major stress starts up with the p-fresh remodel I am in charge of. Good times!

Trail Family Reunion!

Saturday morning was here and I was the first one up in the house. Surprise, surprise! I was even up before Toby who for some reason gets me up at 4:30 am on days I don’t have to get up early. What am I going to do with him? I had planned a 12 mile run with trailmomma and Garmin was also going to join us. Off I went, I was the first to arrive followed closely by Garmin and than not to long after, trailmomma showed up. All three us were there will before 6:30 the actual time we were meeting. After a quick hello’s, and how are things off we went before the heat caught us.

Trailmomma and Garmin set a pretty solid pace; I on the other hand was struggling right out of the gate. I picked up the rear hoping they wouldn’t notice and just kept fighting myself internally. It has been a long few months with some very intense training ranging from back to back to back long runs with Coach Nikon and than keeping up the weekly mileage. Thank goodness that my taper was just around the corner because I was needing it.

Setting the Pace

Today my legs were not feeling fresh. I was little tight and having a hard time getting lose and it seemed that I couldn’t find my stride. I did my best to keep up and while I was struggling trailmomma and Garmin were great they would turn around not see me and slow down and at some points wait. I felt so bad because they looked so fresh. I was hiking hills I normally run up that was how much of a struggle this run was for me.

Don't let the smile fool you.

I was actually enjoying listening to Garmin and trailmomma catch up which kept my mind occupied. They were cruising along and would have kept going past our turn around point if I had not asked “how far are you guys going?” I knew I didn’t want to go any further. I stepped off the trail as they came back down and they resumed the lead.
We came upon the photo taking spot, you now the great view with the boulder overlooking the lake. On the boulder was this giant vulture. Both Garmin and I took a few pictures of it before it flew away, while trailmomma kept her distance. It was such a great spot to take pictures trailmomma decided we all three should get in the photo. As she was balancing her camera on a rock trying to get the timer going a Folsom Trail Runner noticed our dilemma and offered to take our photo. Thanks guys.

Goodbye!

What a good looking bunch!

After the photo opportunity we were quickly on our way. The Folsom Trail Runners were out and heading up the exact single track were heading down. Today there were a ton of them. As we made it through twin rocks and were coming upon the horse stables we ran into Wonder Woman. Again, what a small world. We all chit chatted for a bit. Wonder Woman and Captain Kirk and even trailmomma were thinking of venturing up to Tahoe to cheer on myself and Coach Nikon in two weeks. Yeah!!!

We talked for awhile and a ton of trail runners passed us and also some walkers. The three of us started back up, it was a bit difficult to get going because I for one was stiff and cold. Only I shouldn’t have been cold because it was hot out. I was clammy and cold to the touch. We passed the walkers and said sorry because this was the second time we had passed them and then not 5 minutes later we run into this guy. No, it is not coach Nikons crazy twin brother but coach Nikon. Yelling “Finally my people!” We were excited to see him. He was out doing a 4hr run. Of course we couldn’t pass up the instant photo shoot and Garmin even joined in on the fun.

Work it!!!!

JC Penny Catalog here they come!

After the photo shoot a trail runner stopped and offered to take our picture together. It was a little “family reunion” on the trail today. Coach Nikon made the comment that I was very cold and asked if I was struggling today. Answer, “Yes.” My legs were sluggish; I was hot but cold at the same time. It was just not my day. I am so looking forward to my taper so I can get my body back in line.

As we started back up you could hear all three of us going ohh, ahh, as we were all stiff and having a difficult time getting lose again. But totally worth it to say hi to the trail family.

We hit the fire road and Garmin and trailmomma were cruising along, I was struggling. But they both hiked the hills and waited for me to catch up. Thanks for being patient with me today. You two were the best support today on the run.

I am not sure what I plan on running this week, but I do know I am going to keep it easy and light. TRT is 2 weeks out.

After the run I had a haircut and so did Lil Man. It was fun watching him in the chair, he freaked out when the hair fell on him and he flared about trying to get it off him. He did great sitting still and I think his new hair cut looks great. What do you think?
He looks so Big!

Spiky like auntie Meme. I asked him before going how he wanted his hair cut. He said “Like meme.”

After our hair cuts we both went home and took a nap. I was completely exhausted and still had a long evening up ahead. It is my brother’s birthday on July 4th and the entire family was getting together to celebrate. Happy Birthday Michael!!!!

Happy Birthday to my brother!

15 miles = 16 Horses

Today was my long run of the week. Usually Coach Nikon comes out with me and we will run it together but today he couldn’t make it. Off I went to Cavitt to hit the trails. I was really hoping that today’s run would be different from all of my previous runs this week which by the way were extremely tough due to the heat and most likely improper hydration. But more on that in a bit.

I was really not looking forward to this run, but I did it anyways and found quit a few surprises along the trails. (One being a down Pigeon again.) Of course once I got there and laced up my brand new trail shoes I was feeling better about this run mentally and physically. I hit the fire road and quickly noticed that my right hamstring which had been giving me a lot grief lately was feeling fine. My legs felt like they were back to normal. I was on the fire road for maybe 1.5 miles when I came across a deer. I was so close that when I bounded away I could feel the earth move. I cruised through the 2 miles of fire road. I was for the most part by myself besides all the folks out on the river living it up with BBQ’s and beers and boats. Not me I was running.

I hit the single track and quickly ran into a pair of horses. I trailed them for a bit because they started trotting and I inhaled their dust. I lost them but quickly caught up to them again and I noticed they were off to one side, I looked further down the trail and coming towards me were 3 more horses. I allowed them pass and again I was behind the original pair of horses who again were trotting which means more dust for me. They ended up splitting off onto one of the side trails and I was alone again dust free.

As I was running along the single track it was like a little light went off in my head. I know why I have been feeling so crappy. One I haven’t been drinking enough water. Yes, I drink plenty of water at night at work, but when I thought about it more by the time I leave work I am drenched and burning up. This means I need twice as much water now. I am hot all night sometime I break out in little heat rashes on my legs because of this. Interesting little find.

After my light bulb moment I came upon the horse stables and needed to go pee. Yes, maybe I drank enough water last night and this morning. Only time will tell. While there I took in a Gu and also decided upon a S-cap. If I have been sweating this much at work and on my runs I am sure my body would need this salt. My legs at this point were still feeling really good and they weren’t sluggish. I wanted to be proactive on this run which is why I took in a Gu. Yes it was only 3 miles in but I also knew I didn’t eat that much for dinner or for breakfast. Opps.

Now that I was fueled; off I went towards twin rocks. Along the way I again had to stop and allow more horses to pass. 2 more horses went by. I was thinking to myself how many more horses will there be? After successfully making it through twin with no trips I was feeling more confident. My legs were feeling strong and I was really enjoying this run. But of course while running through twin rocks I had to pull to the side to let another horse by and not far behind that horse was another pair of horses. So far 1 deer, 10 horses and than a herd of geese were on the trail. This was by a huge rock. As I approached they ran down the rock and jumped into the water. Glad trailmomma wasn’t with me.

I hit my turn around and here I refueled. I took in another Gu and also another s-cap. I turned around and headed back. By this point the weather was heating up and it was getting pretty warm. The section of trail I was on wasn’t covered so there was no relief from the heat. I also had more climbing to do on the way back.

small portion of the climb

I set a pretty good pace and as I was about to hit a downhill section I noticed some noises from behind. I quickly looked and immediately stepped off trail. A runner came flying by, my first runner and I bet you thought it was a horse. I was glad he came by because it gave me a surge of energy. I was feeling pretty good and I really wanted to spilt my time coming back. I knew it was possible and I wanted to challenge myself today.

Gets pretty small with overgrowth all around

I was almost through twin rocks which if you haven’t been out there has some pretty gnarly technically sections. I was cruising along at this point. I knew the trail pretty well and I always go the same way when the single track opens up and gives you an option on getting through a section. Will this time I decided I didn’t want to go left because I didn’t want to jump off the rock and went right. Just as I am almost through I was thinking to myself “wow that was easier.” Only I didn’t get that thought out of head because I was rolling in the dirt after falling on my hands and knees. My momentum kept me going and I landed in a sitting position. First thought,” Another fall.” Than all of sudden my right hip seized up and I was in some excorticating pain. I couldn’t get it to relax and I thought to myself “I have 5 miles to go.” I repositioned myself and took some of the weight off that side and it relaxed. I am not very happy right now. It wasn’t very technical just a small boulder that tripped up my right foot and caused me to tumble. I am covered in dirt now, more so. I am sticky from the sweat and dirt.

After the fall, I landed sitting after tumbling.

I get up and get moving again. As I round the bend a see another pair of horses. Up to 12 horses. This time seeing the horses allowed me to get my thoughts onto something else. I hiked up the hill as the horses easily trotted; I took in a Gu and just as I crested another pair of horses. 14 now. I know it is a horse trail but I never thought I would see this may horses. And it still wasn’t over. By the end of the run I ran upon 16 horses.

The last 5 miles were a bit tough. My hip was tight from the fall, and I was running low on water. I decided to break the last section up. I told myself 3 miles to the fire road and that is a very easy 3 miles. Nothing hard about it. It worked, I made it to the fire and only had 2 miles left, but at this point I was out of water and the fire road was completely exposed to the sun and it was around 12:45 in the afternoon. I make it back to car and quickly drink my recovery drink that is waiting for me. My how good it tasted. I change my shoes and stretch everything out.
Noticed the tan lines and the dirt that is caked on me?

15 miles today and next week begins my taper before TRT. Probably a good thing considering my last 2 runs solo have ended up with me in the dirt. I am sure that my falls were due to muscle fatigue, dehydration. I haven’t been sleeping much and I have been stressing about my new position at work which starts on Tuesday for roughly 18 weeks. I know that for the upcoming weeks I am going to have a heavy focus on hydration and rest. I will run but not as much. I need my body recover for TRT. Tomorrow I am hitting the trails again with trailmomma and Garmin is even joining us. I told trailmomma to bring her camera because I don’t know what to expect.

Final tally: 1 deer

                16 horses

                1 herd of geese

                1 other trail runner

                1 Pigeon down

1 trail run I soon won’t be forgetting.

Change is Good Right?

This week has been very challenging to get any type of quality running in. I think the long hours overnight have finally caught up with me and on top of that I found out I am the Remodel Coordinator for my store which is right sizing into a P-Fresh store. (produce) In other words my stores remodel starts technically in 3 weeks and I just found out about this position on Tuesday night. Yes, I am excited for the new challenges and endeavors that lay ahead for me, ummm whom am I kidding I am scared like a lost child would be scared. It all is hitting home the magnitude of this.
The good thing is I at least I am being sent out for some training. That should help. The bad news is I am still scared. The first couple of thoughts that initially popped into my head, how am I going to continue with my training? My next big race is in September the Sierra Nevada Double. Will I get the time off needed? So far that answer is hopefully yes. OMG TRT is in three weeks, at least I am ready for that, I think. But again my plans have drastically changed for that event. I might show back up to work the following Monday after the race not walking very well, that will be interesting. These are just a few of the questions going through my head. Trying not to let it overwhelm me for the time being. But it is a lot of information to take in and than to tell my team I am leaving for 18 weeks. The great news is I had a stellar night for it being my last truck night. It felt great accomplishing everything we did and also reminds me that I can do a remodel and be successful at it.
I feel a bit better, still alot of unanswered questions but moving on I went out for a six mile run on Tuesday. I was feeling pretty confident when I started running, holding a good pace. Drinking water as it was well over 100.  But than all of a sudden everything came to a crashing halt. I was spent. I don't know if it was because of everything that was going on at work or just the heat had taken it's toll on me. I was walking, I mean walking and stopping in the shade and than I would try to run some more. But I was feeling miserable. I made it to my turn around point, and before heading back I soaked my head in the water faucet and refilled my bottle in hopes of making it back in one piece. The soaking helped for a bit, but again I was shuffling back in. All in all I completed the six miles in 1hr and 8 min. But it was a real struggle.
Of course Wednesday comes and I am not motivated to run, I didn't want a repeat of Tuesday. But I eventually pulled myself together and headed. out. On my way to the foot bridge a car pulled up behind me and was really close, when all of a sudden I heard the sound of a siren turn on and off and I looked in my rear view mirror and saw red flashing lights. SH!@ My heart was racing, I jerked the car to the right and regained my focus and than realized it was my good friend Coach Nikon. Thanks Coach Nikon for completely scaring the living daylights out of me.
We both had a good laugh when I parked at the foot bridge. We talked a bit and I told him about my struggle on Tuesday with the run. That's when he said Partner Jim told him it was a bad air day and that was what I was probably feeling. Big sigh of relief rushed over and now I had more confidence to get this run in. So off I went, I held a pretty steady pace on the way out. It defiantly felt much better than Tuesday. I was still hurting from the heat and soaked in the water faucet. That helped refresh me, but pretty soon my legs were feeling sluggish and I just couldn't get them moving. My legs were dead. Maybe it was the long hours on my feet at work, or maybe I didn't eat enough, or maybe I didn't drink enough water the night before. I don't know. My body was off. Everything was getting tight but good think was I only had a mile to get back. I powered though it and ended up running the six in about 55 min.
I am hoping this isn't a sign or something. Overall the pace ended up being good for me, but it did not feel right. I was struggling through it and it felt to forced. It didn't feel fun. That is what it was. It wasn't fun. I think maybe I have to much going on in my head at the moment and these next 5 days away from work will really benefit me. This is my last really long weekend. So what am I going to do with myself you wonder? Me too, Coach Nikon and I are running tomorrow probably from the overlook to cool and back and than throwing in a hill repeat on the dam hill or stage coach. Saturday I will be running again and Saturday is family get together night. It is my brothers birthday on July 4 and we are celebrating Saturday night. Wohoo! Sunday is the 4th of July and right now I don't have any major plans. I think I really need to relax and find some down time. Because come Tuesday I am in full swing in training and planning the remodel. Wish me luck! Happy Trails everyone!

Pigeon Down

It has been a very interesting week for me. I took a few recovery days and they were very much needed. When I did run again I ended up doing some up tempo without realizing it. I just let my body run what it felt like. I didn’t realize that I had thrown in a couple 7:30 min and 8 min miles over a 6 mile run. My long run this week was going to be on the bike path with Coach Nikon. We had talked about doing 22-25 miles.

On the morning of the run it was raining. Really! Raining this late in June. I was not thrilled to be running 25 miles in rain. But as I gathered my stuff it stopped raining. But I am not sure what I would want more, rain or the humid muggy weather we had that day. For me, not the humid I think I would want the rain. So the run didn’t start in rain, but it ended in sunshine with temperatures that felt very warm due to the humidity. Now usually on the long run Coach Nikon is like clockwork, this time it was me telling him I needed to go to the bathroom and we were only 5.6 miles into our long run. He got a real chuckle out of this because I usually don’t have to go a run. But when nature calls it calls, and all I could think about was how far until the bathroom? Lucky for me it was only around the corner. It is amazing how much better I felt. This was a very interesting run from the start. Rain, humidity, Coach Nikon ran into a dead rat, which scared both of us. I was in the lead at one point and up ahead I saw a coyote just running on the bike path. It stopped me in my tracks. I didn’t want to face it. The coyote did run up into the brush, but I am sure it was watching us.

We ran around the lake and on the way back in Coach Nikon picked he pace up and would run ahead and then turn around and run towards me. A couple of times I surprised him by being closer than he had expected. He even asked me if I was trying to negative split. My answer to him was “It doesn’t fell like a negative split.” In reality I was just trying to hold it together, I was stiff again. My quads and hips were feeling the flat terrain that day and pretty soon my run was turning into a slow shuffle. But my slow shuffle was still holding 9:30 min miles. Along the run I would use Coach Nikon and tell myself “O.K. just keep him in my sights.” It worked for a bit. I also tried speeding up hoping it would help loosen me up and get the stiffness out. That also worked because soon enough we were back at the foot bridge and we only had one last hill to tackle. That is just what we did. We both finished strong and for me it ended up being a 21 mile run in 3 hrs and 19 min, a little shy of our original goal. But I am O.K. with that. I still have the weekly miles I was aiming for.
After getting home I rolled on my foam roller which helped a lot. My long run routine is soaking my legs in cold water. I also went to the pool and played with my nephew a bit, which of course was after a nap. That run drained me. It was a good thing I took my nap because my dad was in town and we had dinner at my brother’s house with the rest of the family that evening.

Grandpa and Lil Man

Saturday, Coach Nikon couldn’t run with me so I was on my own. I headed out to Cavitt and decided on a nice and easy 12 mile run. Overall this run felt great on my body. The terrain is a nice and rolling and is very easy to get a good rhythm. It wasn’t overly hot but it was warming up a bit. I knew that on the way back in the fire road was going to be really since it is pretty exposed.
Pretty cool tree

Down by the waters edge

I set a nice and steady pace, whatever my body was feeling was what I ran. I was enjoying being alone. I did come across a few runners on the trail, and I even ran upon a horse. I hit my turn around point and started back. On the way back in I ran into one of my pacers from AR50 and we talked a bit. She is training for a race in a few weeks. After running into her not maybe five minutes later I ran into Wonder woman who was out doing a 13 mile loop of her own. What a small world. We talked for a bit and off we went in separate directions.
Horse I had to pass

I only had 4 miles left. I hadn’t even gone half a mile when I was face first in the dirt. What just happened!!!! I was on the easiest section of single track and I tripped over I don’t know what. Usually when I trip I can catch myself before falling, but this time I think both of my feet hit and I couldn’t do anything about it. I did a great superman face first into the dirt. I lost focus and that is what happened. I thought, hmmm how can I take a picture. You see I was by myself and it is not a matter of if I was going to fall, but when I was going to fall. And will it happened with no witnesses. I could have left it out of this post but that wouldn’t have been fair. After falling I did what any ultra runner does, I got up brushed the dirt off and continued on my way. I still can’t believe I fell. After the fall I was more focused because I didn’t want it to happen again. I hit the fire road and only had 2 miles left. I picked up the pace and made it back in one piece, well sort of.

I am glad that I went out today even if I did fall. Tahoe Rim Trail is just around the corner and next week Coach Nikon and I might do the canyons one last time. Than it is a taper for me, which I am not very good at. But I know I am going to need it. The plan after Tahoe is to recover and then start training for the Sierra Nevada Double Marathon in September.

Ride around the block!

Solo Birthday Party

Saturday was here and it was time for “Meme time!!!” Lil Man and I had a birthday party to go to. This would be my first birthday party where I was completely in charge of Lil Man. In charge of everything from making sure he ate, had sunscreen on, went to the bathroom, and was safe in the pool. Whew, I was a little nervous but confident because he is such a easy going kid. Before we went to the party we had to go get a birthday present, talk about not planning and rushing around to get things done. I even managed to squeeze in a short 3 mile run.

Once we picked out the birthday present and we were leaving I realized that we had more than a birthday present. He had a new piggy bank, because he broke his, he had a new Toy Story toy and a paddle ball. I think I spoiled him a little bit. But that is what Aunties are for.
We arrived at the party and he was very excited. We immediately went into the blow up slide. Let me tell you it was hard to get him out. He had a blast running around, swimming, sliding, and playing with the other kids. He was the first kid in the pool and the last one out.
"I can do it all by myself."

Up and down for hours!

He laughed the entire time!

Good Times!

All in all we both had a great time, he didn’t come home sunburned, and he ate some lunch and of course enjoyed cake. He listened to me and we only had incident where he cried. He got hit in the face with a foot and came running to me and I scooped him up not caring that I was getting soaking wet. I calmed him by kissing and making it better and he was back in the action.
His new friend

He even made time for bubbles.

His first Tetor Totor Ride!

We came home and he was completely exhausted and so was I running around after him for him 3.5 hrs. He took a nap, and when he woke up he put his shoes on and came to my room and asked “Meme, can we go back?” That is how much fun he had he wanted to go back and play.

Happy, even though we had to leave!

Sunday came and I was still really tired and not really feeling a run, but I knew I needed to do something. My friend had called me the night before which was a great thing because we ended up running 15 miles. You know what, the 15 miles went really well. I was holding a incredible pace which I didn’t think I could. I am so glad my friend called and coaxed me out to run because I don’t think I would have run that much. It’s definitely interesting how things turn out. I am glad I only did 3 on Saturday I guess maybe my body was telling me to take a rest day.
My next event is 4 weeks out and I am looking forward to it. Coach Nikon and I have been training together and we plan on either doing something hard and fast, or intervals, or hill repeats on Friday. Trying to get our legs stronger for all the climbing we will be doing in Tahoe.
